The successful applicant must be able to commute daily. The home base for this position will be at our Global Technology Centre in Strathroy, Canada. You will also be quality focused and able to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of die casting concepts and techniques as well as project management experience is an asset. Proven interpersonal, written and verbal communication, priority and time management, and records and information management skills are essential. You will have a College Diploma or University Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Materials Science along with at least 7 years of related industry experience specific to high pressure die casting.

  • Participate as a team member in broad engineering assignments.
  • Support technical reviews and meetings with customers.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Attend casting trials/samples to ‘close the loop’ of simulation vs reality.
  • Work collaboratively with plants and design groups across the Meridian organization.
  • Support component / fastener testing and initiatives.
  • Assist in development and advancement of core competencies and technological know-how.
  • Advance and improve the use of flow simulation techniques and practices within Meridian.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to colleagues.
  • Complete flow simulation activities on time and within quoted metrics.
  • Document and report results in accordance with specific program requirements.
  • Conduct and interpret flow simulation studies using established guidelines and practices.
  • Set up Magmasoft simulation models in accordance with best practices.
  • The position will also encompass aspects of process and product evaluations, participate in casting trials, and perform various testing related to product robustness and assessment. You will be primarily responsible for conducting flow and thermal simulation / analysis of new and existing tooling to ensure products meet customer quality and performance requirements.
